The word "How?" springs to mind at this point.

This is a skateboard large enough to hold a multitude of pre- and barely pubescent teenagers, fueled only by the unlimited energy of at least a dozen or more single legs. As each destination whizzes by, the passengers leap off with their backpacks. Toward the end of the run, powered at that point by only a few remaining passengers, the velocity declines until all passengers disembark, leaving the giant skateboard pilotless and crashing into the nearest bushes at school.

An interesting concept for mass transit indeed. If there is to be mass why shouldn't it be the means to powering the vessel.
