This is a good idea - create a series of autoresponse addresses , where on receiving an email with a predetermined codeword it replies back with one of several "Goat" emails containing known phrases and words used by spammers in a convincing Email. (with a handy disclaimer at the top) .

For example, you send one with "Viagra" in the title and it responds back with the most common phrases and titles used for this type of SPAM.

This could be very useful.

Doesn't spam mail already test your anti-spam filtering capabilities?

The problem that spam filters face is not so much filtering out known spam, which is what your scheme will test, but new, previously unknown spam. Is that another wet and wild teen come on, or po sending a link? (My spam filter failed to discriminate that particular distinction recently, for reasons that escape me.)

And as lbaf notes, most people are getting more than enough spam mail to test a filter without adding spoof spam.

psst, [mand], probably not the best idea to precis your idea with //This is a good idea//.

Let the other demi-bakers be the judge of that...
