Most remote batteries last their shelf life. So the spares would be flat (or nearly so) when the time came to swap them out. |

[neelandan] - these are apparently rechargeable batteries. [11thly] - why not store the new batteries within the device to be controlled (which is larger than the remote and has power available to keep them charged)? |

Just make sure you use those new fangled "low self discharge" rechargeables. Those last a whole year without a recharge, otherwise this idea is as useful as a spare hole for a mint. |

I actually don't agree with him. I think it'd be better to have a remote which slots in like a wiimote recharger, but that's part of my universal inbuilt battery agenda which i never quite get round to mentioning on here. I also think remotes are to some extent the spawn of Satan. |
