... a scouring pad on the bum for washing the slip'n slide
Letsbuildafort, Dec 04 2003

They would get all crusty and nasty if you failed to wash/dry them properly ... then you could put them in your Mega-sized frog Sponge Sterilizer. Although it may not be a counter-top model
Letsbuildafort, Dec 04 2003

Your pants smell kind of ... musty.
Captain_Ignorant, Dec 04 2003

Does my bum look big in these?
kropotkin, Dec 04 2003

       Dry clean only. +

Is this idea supposed to replace adult diapers? I would be kind of comical. You would have to keep grandpa on a liquid diet though!
notOriginal, Dec 04 2003

should have probably noted somewhere that these spongepants are pants (as in underwear UK) not pants (as in trousers, US).

Having made the distinction, SpongePants (US), or SpongeSlacks as I prefer to call them, might just work too.

[Bungston's] sponge steriliser is a must for all spongepant wearers.

       [jtg] you're weird.
neilp, Dec 05 2003

saying it twice hardly lessens the impact *sob*

David Letterman did the whole Suit'o'sponges thing on his show one night. Can't find a picture link.

Man thats harsh, [nielp] ... try to be more considerate when you think of repeating things you post ...
Letsbuildafort, Dec 05 2003

[letsbuildafort] i wouldn't mind so much, but [neilp] is actually my brother. He has my number, he knows my address. He could be rude to my face, but no, he chooses a public website. Tsk.
jonthegeologist, Dec 05 2003

       What? Brothers?
k_sra, Dec 05 2003

Aaah, I was unaware of your relationship, jon ... I'll kindly keep my nose in my own business from now on

<Cary Grant> I spend a great deal of time attending my buisness, so that people like you don't have to. </Cary Grant>
ato_de, Dec 05 2003

no, not sponge pants, i'd never wear those. give me towel pants. i'd like pants, shirts, and hoodies made of terry cloth. maybe i should post my own idea.

if you wear the sponge pants, i'll stand next to you in my towel pants, and people will wash and dry dishes on our bums.
changokun, Dec 05 2003

       are they very bouncy?
po, Dec 06 2003

       BOUNCY BOUNCY!

spongepants are superpadded for the male biker and also supershaped to provide support.
jonthegeologist, Dec 06 2003

       Or rather "support."
k_sra, Dec 06 2003

it would help in college accidents. one time i was staying over at my boyfriends house in college and his housemate brought home a girl sooooo inebriated she crapped her pants. the sponge pants would have saved the mess. it was that sort of mess. she was called paula "do do " brown from then on out. yes her last name was brown.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that this idea has nothing to do with SquareBob. Now, what to do with this fish...
galukalock, Dec 17 2003

spongepants are also lovely and warm in this cold weather. Also, airy and breezey in the summer.
jonthegeologist, Dec 17 2003

       [bubblegrrl] Classy
squeak, Dec 17 2003

Nowhere in this idea is the mention of a SquareBob to wear the SpongePants...

       [edit: 2 seconds later]

Sorry [po], missed your anno... *smacks forehead*
Cr0esus47, Dec 17 2003

not just for SquareBobs - anyone can wear the SpongePants.
