Despite the average web user's willingness to scroll down long pages of content, you've seen the modern trend in building webpages divided into chunks, then presented with "previous" and "next" buttons. Each chunk shows you a picture or a paragraph, and a few hundred ads. When you click NEXT, a new page
loads with a new paragraph, and a hundred new ads.
I recommend taking this further, to break paragraphs and images into even smaller pieces... words and pixels. Show them one at a time with lots of ads, and a slowly-loading page layout, and the usual NEXT/PREVIOUS buttons.
It's already done by pixels

This is a great idea. The result would be more accessible to
adaptive technology users too. |

I've witnessed this trend on "clickbait" media sites that present most of their content in slideshow format. |
