       If waste is the consumption of resources for non- valuable purposes, then the definition of waste is contingent on value judgements, which are notoriously subjective.   

       Most people spend their time doing something which someone else is willing to pay them to do. And this is usually because the outcome is a product which some third person is willing to buy. One or more of these three parties might be a fool - in which case, there's waste - but who is to say which party?
