Not sure if it's a baked idea, but what about making an old dutch type wind mill and cover the windmill blades and the windmill with solar cells?

I'm pretty sure this has been half-baked before. People concluded that the requirements for efficient windmills are too different from those for solar panels. |

A quick search under solar + windmill, and we have the culprit. (link) It got 5 croissants first time round.
