Edible Receipts   (+50, -6)  [vote for, against]
A flipped bill never tasted so good!

I was in a restaurant the other day, and paid with a debit card. The receipt of said transaction included the last 4 digits of my social, and the entire CC#! This is amazing, I can't believe this kind of information was right in front of my face, in mostly undestructable form, as well.

I could buy a shredder, and shred everything. I could buy an incinerator, and burn it. But, I ponder more enjoyable methods..

This idea is to have restaurant reciepts that include pertinent information (and any reciepts for that matter) to be printed on bubble gum. I can clean my mouth after a chessburger and beer and rid the worries of identity theft all in one go!

Be cute if the bill came inside a fortune cookie.

HA! I've been eating my reciepts for years already!

Yes, but you're a student and have little else to live on anyway.

if you are what you eat, and you eat these, do you eventually become a cash register? +

I've been looking on here for the Chessburger but can't seem to find it. Sounds like fun though: "Quarter Pounder 3 to Big Mac 5" etc.

Accountants all over the world would cringe at this concept...."yeah lets eat the only evidence that this transaction ever occurred"
-- shinobi, Feb 10 2006

Baked.

My friend does this. Crams the entire thing into his mouth in one go. Swallows it too. Does notebook paper also. I'm wondering about newspaper...
-- DesertFox, Feb 11 2006

Well, with credit card receipts, there is a copy for both parties in the transaction. I guess their's could be paper, but I betcha they'd choose bubble gum given the choice.

Kinda reminds me of the sugar paper I used to eat as a kid. That stuff was great. And 'Kosher' too, apparently. (see link)

Print them on rice paper, like chinese candies are wrapped in. Totally edible and gluten free.

Bum: "Hey buddy..."

Customer: "Piss off, I don't have any change!"

Bum: "I don't want your money. It's just that I haven't eaten in three days, and I was wondering if you had any documents you want destroyed. I'll eat them right here in front of you and all..."

What's up with the word "clients" in [Willem]'s anno above? Has it got the pox? There's dots everywhere.

I hope it's not contagious. .. ......

Have I ever mentioned that with the new laser printed reciepts, you can blacken the entire sheet by leaving it in a shirt pocket when you iron.

// My friend does this. //

I heard several years ago, around the time everyone was worried about BPA in water bottles, that receipt paper commonly contains BPA. If true, your friend probably got a lot more of it than even the most avid hydrators.

What you need is a small sachet of cellulase powder you can sprinkle on the receipt, which will convert it to glucose.

Instead of swiping a credit card perhaps payment to the restaurant for your meal could be in eatable ingredients, such as a bunch of carrots, a chicken, a handfull of raw pasta, etc.
