Virtual Fireworks Show   (+4)  [vote for, against]
Yea, it's only on your iPhone but at least it won't burn down the neighborhood.

4th of July is coming up and fireworks are now basically outlawed everywhere. (somewhat ironically) This is a way to enjoy massive fireworks displays in your neighborhood. Sort of.

The huge starbursts and rocket trails are just superimposed on the view from your phone's camera with an app as you point it in different directions.

The associated explosion sounds are in stereo so if you hear an explosion to your right, turn and point your camera in that direction to see the 50 story glittering starburst only 20 yards away complete with fiery white hot sparkles flying right by your head.

Better than nothin'.

Fireworks_20machine_20gun Possible way to get round this law? [pocmloc, Jun 28 2022]

This, but instead of little cartoon characters, fireworks. https://www.youtube...watch?v=E7nwr6sA6Es

My guess is fireworks on these things will only be a matter of time. https://www.youtube...watch?v=aBmhMNbcCV0

Nothing illustrates our growing tyranny better than outlawing fireworks.

If this app takes off maybe we can add realistic school shootings and war.

Better than the real thing.

We already have realistic VR wars and school shootings. And yes, they're better than the real thing by every measure.

But something small and personal, your own highly illegal but secluded personal school shooting to get back at whomever and show them a thing or two. Or something.

Kids who feel preyed upon can "get it all out" between classes without being hauled to the police station (hospital, morgue, etc).

Next week Putin can play his "Let's Nuke The US" app while pretending to follow what Biden is trying to say.

So, like, a screensaver that rotates.

An augmented reality program like the one that superimposes characters on whatever view you're looking at only with fireworks. (link)
