Nostalgic for the sound of logging on to your local bulletin board?
Learned to diagnose communication protocols by ear?
Frustrated that your cable modem is in another room, and the only way to tell that it's misbehaving is getting up and looking at the blinkenlights?

Suffer no more! This small device sits over the set of LEDs on your cable modem (or router) and makes sounds related to the pattern of the LEDs when it detects anything abnormal. 9V battery powered, should last about as long as your smoke alarm's battery unless you have very poor cable service.

Jeez...you kids don't know how lucky you are. In MY day, it was 300 baud to the local BBS. 28.8k? You had it good.

Just last night (no, seriously) The Good Fairy Jenny was talking about how big a deal it was to jump from 14.4 to 28.8, and I commented that I missed the old dial-up modem sound. I'll never forget the first time I heard it over hi-fi speakers and caught all the subtle harmonic nuances that I'd never known were there.

Also, it's rude to refer to a wake as a "party".
