Fitness gear ratio on bicycles
what if you could click to a gear on a tenspeed called "cardio" or "strength training" that would represent the most fitness enhancing gear ratio | |
So there is a chance this is just the lowest gear, the thing is what if you could click to a gear on a tenspeed called "fitness" that would represent the most fitness enhancing gear ratio. Also there could be gears labeled "cardio" or "strength training"
this is suggested as I read that cardio with
strength training caused the greatest slimness. So a bicyclist, who might otherwise go for most pleasant ride could go for sveltification ride. Done right, it might be better than Spinning class.
Continuously Variable Transmission for Bicycles

Being out on a real bike is ALWAYS better than a spin class. |
|
|
See my link for a relatively new CVT now available for bikes.
It allows gear ratio changes under load. |
|
|
So, using this, an electronic shifter (available), and a bicylce
computer - you could set up the equivalent of an automatic
transmission for your bike. [bean]'s idea then could be
implemented into the program so that it optimises gearing
ratio at all times for the result you want - whether that's
constant output, constant cadence, etc etc. |
|
|
I was going to bone this because one ratio is not optimal in
all circumstances, but with the CVT modification, it gets a
bun. |

Just park your bike training device on an incline if you want to simulate a hill. |

EDIT: But make sure to place it on a decline once you're finished. Letting all that potential energy build up inside would be a disaster waiting to happen... |
