Happy 2021
I hope you enjoy the arbitrary calendar/clock increment | |
Perpetual New Year's Eve
https://en.wikipedi...i/List_of_calendars Well, how about that? We could've restarted 2020. Keep this in mind if 2021 starts acting up. [Sgt Teacup, Dec 31 2020]

Well, seeing how the calendar and dates are arbitrary there's no reason you shouldn't unilaterally declare that tomorrow is 1st Jan 2020. |
I like it over here on this side of the sun. |
Its always New Years Eve somewhere in the world |
[hippo] says 'It's always' New Year's Eve somewhere' which sounded preposterous, due to Earth's rotation and such, so I checked. True fact (see link). |
Happy New Year's Eve, wheneverwhere you are! |
... but don't forget, when it's midnight in London, in Norfolk it's still only 1625 (and the next witch-burning is tomorrow, on the village green). |
Ah yes, London, that cosmopolitan hub, beacon of international co-operation for the ambitious youth of all of Europe... |
Ambitious youth of all ... where ? You mean that benighted wasteland lying east of the Channel Islands ? |
The one that innumerable immigrants make desperate efforts to leave at every opportunity, and get to England ? Understandable, of course ... who would want to live in somewhere where they barely speak English, have weird food, and is absolutely crawling with foreigners ? |

Isnt there an applicable lemon law we could
invoke? |

I want to see us all back here this time next year. Nobodys
going anywhere. No time-jumping, passing away, quitting,
deleting, or ghosting for 4 years allowed. Time must come to a
standstill. After last year, that is not too much to ask, now is
it? |
For real, Happy 2021. May you be healthy, may you be joyous,
and may you be blessed with abundance. |
Thanks [bliss] - and heres to a 2021 full of happiness and
companionship for you! |
Glad to see you here, and wish you were ... |
[blissmiss] That's lovely, and I raise my measuring cup full of milk to Paul Dear. |
Happy New Year, [beanangel], [hippo], and all bakers
everywhere. Somehow, it already feels better. |
Happy 2021 [bliss] and all too - may 2021 be a kinder and
gentler year for everyone. |
May 2021 is only 1/12 of a year |
<Gratuitous and unnecessary pedantry> |
Actually, it's 8.48752% of a year (31/365.2422) which is slightly more than 1/12 ... (8.3333%) |
</Gratuitous and unnecessary pedantry> |

Of all the various options, you chose the Tropical year as your
"length"? I would have thought a planet-hopping collective would
use the Sidereal year... |
Ye gods, you don't say that someone in the class was not only awake, but actually paying attention ? |
Quite correct. Now, to earn a Gold Star*, can you explain why we chose to use the Tropical year in combination with the "Gregorian" calendar, instead of the Sidereal or the Ephemeris year length ? |
*Which will be placed on the Class Achievement Chart at a slightly different Azimuth and Right Ascension than most might expect. |
//why we chose to use the Tropical year// expenses paid research trip to the Bahamas? |
Spellchecker got "Sidereal" wrong, too ... hmmm. |
//Gold Star//
Ha! You should know better than to offer me impossible incentives.
Stars explode long before being able produce gold in a stable way. |
I ordered a bunch of croissants for everyone but
the order was late because due to Covid
Happy
new day with a year attached. |
Well mine arrived fine! Thank you |
Oh, that's what that strange package on my porch was... |
// You should know better than to offer me impossible incentives // |
"We'd have gotten away with it too, if it wasn't for you pesky kids ..." |
Yup, 2020 won alright. Here's a toast the year that changed
the most! |
I too ordered a bunch of croissants (cheaper by the crate,
lemme tell ya) and they're very nearly crowding me out of
the house. Can't wait to offer them out this year. |
Hope everyone didn't get what they didn't want this
holiday season and won't get what they don't want for the
rest of 2021. Whoever I managed to annoy thus far, I
apologize, and whomever I somehow have not yet
annoyed I hereby apologize in advance. |
Cheers! Take an extra week off -- you deserve it!! |
