International hug a smoker day.

People smoke because they need endorphin which regularly come from close proximity to other people.

Hugging smokers will remind them to look for endorphins from other people rather than from drugs.

Thhhhwwwwwpppppp.

Did I mention that I was the original model for SideShow Bob?

um, not actually an invention, yet i suppose you could slap a nicotine patch on the back of their neck during the hug and say, "and today quitting will be easier!"

Anybody hugs me uninvited is in for a slap.

       Weird category btw

//I gave up when breathing became an issue.// Wrong priorities.
MaxwellBuchanan, Jan 11 2017

       How?
po, Jan 11 2017

I gave up breathing when smoking became an issue. It's surprising how quickly you adapt to anaerobiosos.
MaxwellBuchanan, Jan 11 2017

Weird, we never had you down as a Breatharian ....

       <link>

You can adapt to Asbestosis, too ...

I think you'll find that Breatharians place an unduly high value on the act of breathing. It's almost alluded to in the name.
MaxwellBuchanan, Jan 11 2017

Get away from me, I don't know where you've been..
not_morrison_rm, Jan 11 2017

       I love the category.
Custardguts, Jan 11 2017

Alternatively, it should be politically correct to smoke a hugger.

The jail in which you put the health conscious stealer of kisses.

       The snogging hugger mugger jugger.
popbottle, Jan 11 2017

If you hug them strongly enough, they can get an early simulated experience of COPD, which they will, with high probability, eventually experience, if smoking doesn't kill them outright first, such as via cancer (only about 15% get lung cancer, but almost all will get COPD, and have difficulty breathing for the rest of their lives).

       - They smell bad.
tatterdemalion, Jan 11 2017

Sorry NO...even though my S/O is a smoker, he stinks when he comes back in from smoking outside! How about *spray a smoker with deodorizer*?
xandram, Jan 12 2017

Smoking is GOOD. Proles smoke, pay lots of tax, and die young. In the unfortunate absence of wholesale warfare, it helps keep the numbers down.

Yes...let us discuss hs choice of categories, shall we? This from a professional baker no less. DUH??? What the hell??? What were you thinking...or do you just randomly assign one? You can't be serious. Are you insane??? WTF? You must be smoking something wacky yourself!!!

Ok, now for the idea. Your second sentence is complete rubbish. Tada!
blissmiss, Jan 12 2017

I found the category moderately amusing, but

"People smoke because they need endorphin which regularly come from close proximity to other people"

So, the tobacco companies can take out the nicotine, tar, horse manure, old bus tickets..currently in cigarettes.you should ring the tobacco companies up now and I'm sure you'll get a cash reward.
not_morrison_rm, Jan 12 2017

//"People smoke because they need endorphin which regularly come from close proximity to other people"//

You don't need to smoke to get to know people, you can drink instead.
bigsleep, Jan 13 2017

But doing both gives you belt-and-braces security.
MaxwellBuchanan, Jan 13 2017

       //But doing both gives you belt-and-braces security.//

With caution though. You run a risk of meeting interesting people.

Hasn't happened yet, [bigs], hasn't happened yet.
