The phrase 'crumpled heap' comes to mind.

I went tubing recently. It was fun. It was nice. But on the slow parts, it was boring.

I thought of what would make this funner, and my thoughts turned to tag, and, of course, being the fact that i was in water, pirates. I thought of the variation of tag in whih you place flags on your belt, and if they are yanked out, you are out of the game.

The equipment for this sport is simple. A cargo-webbing type belt to put around your tube before inflating (so it doesnt come loose), nand 4 detachable clippy flags.

The aim of the game is to "pirate" the most flags from other players, while protectiong your own. Grab a flag(s) and clip it onto yourself when you get away. The person who, at the end of the time limit or tubing trip, who has the most flags, is the winner.

Anything goes, within reason. You may form alliances, dunk people, leave your tube unattended and dive to sneak up on people; anything like that.

Change "flags" to "ships (tubes), rum, and booty", and I am in.

Well I guess that the flags are your "booty" (they can be gold colored) and the tubes are alreay your "ships", just donut shaped. And tons of people drink beer while tubing, so drinking rum wouldn't be difficult to contrive. :)

       The winning strategy: extreme violence.

       Or a pin.

[DF] I've never been tubing, how does it work? How long are the flumes? And, do you have to carry your tube back up to the top of the chute once you've reached the bottom, or is there a ski-lift like arrangement that takes you back up to the top of the 'piste'?

Tubing generally consists of sitting in a rubber innertube donut and floating down a river. You may choose a nice gentle river for relaxation, or a one with lots of rapids for lots of fun. Many rivers also have little chutes every so often that you can ride down and get back to the top of and do as many times as you like. The Comal River, for instance, has this neat little chute that goes on for about 150 ft, I think, and it is really fun. It also has an atrificial chute to detour you around a waterfall (a 10 ft waterfall [I think] is not something you want to go over in a tube, but 3 feet is fun).

Shuttle rides take you back to the beginning.

I'm thinking that with all the hinder parts hanging through the tubes that grabbing all the booty you want shouldn't be a problem. +
