Maggot Race consists of the foolish human participants crawling and
wriggling towards the finishing line inside sleeping bags, imitating the characteristic movement technique of maggots.
They are not permitted to stand up or move in a way that is too similar
to that of a caterpillar. Spectators
can encourage them by baiting them
along with tasty morsels, like rotten apples, dangled just out of reach
on the end of fishing poles.

So... is use of elbows permitted, or are your arms tied to your sides? I think that would make it SO much more interesting to watch... |
|

This gets my vote for an olympic event... |
|

Sounds like something they might have shown on Most Extreme Ellimination Challenge a few times... I have to wonder about the originality of this idea, I'm afraid. (Note: that ain't my bone) |

Sounds good for a birthday party. For kids,
anyway. I think adults would prefer two to a
sleeping bag, and might not make much progress --
at least not toward the finish line. Probably you
can hold on to your apples, but spectators ought
to be able to pelt the contestants with beach
balls or something. |

//Sounds good for a birthday party. For kids, anyway// never been to Glastonbury then.... I may find a link. |

Yikes! Thanks for the Glastonbury link. That looks
like great fun for someone else to have. |

Not cool, Speed. Have you given any thought at all to the number of Halfbakers you might have personally offended with that remark? Please, always have in mind the size of your audience. There are a lot more folks who read this idea than just the ones who posted comments. Welcome to the Halfbakery, but try to avoid the protected-status jokes. |

Thanks [21Q] and seconded - not cool. |

Thirded by me. Not a nice comment at all... |
|
| |
I just deleted that comment. I think that's a first for me in these circumstances. I was actually going to delete the whole idea as being too silly, even for me, but it seems to be a bit popular, so it can stay. |
|
| |
Aw, no, it's a great idea... I think you did the right thing,
though. Want me to delete my anno too, so people don't get
confused? |
|
| |
uh-oh! now I'm confused.... |
|
| |
It's gone now, so the confusion will be minor, and not worth worrying about. No need to back-track that much. |
