Sweetmeats are baked. Well, roasted or boiled. They are the glands in the base of the tongue of a cow. Delicious with sweet mustard, they have a slightly chewy texture, with fatty overtones, hence the addition of mustard. Alternately, try honey-cured jerky. |

Try biltong, chopped into small bitesize lumps & eaten with beer. Also canapes. |

Cha-siew bao.... Or Chinese roast pork buns to the uninitiated. |

Good stuff, and definitely more sweet than savoury. |

Not quite wrapped up in a little plastic thing, but the dough can be discarded if you're particularly finicky. |
