Moaning worktop

For a tidy kitchen

We all do it, we leave used dishes by the sink to be dealt with later by someone else.

Later happens, and by then, there is a large pile, teetering at the angle of rest, and it is always much worse.

It's a problem.

I propose a worktop, with appropriate sensing technology, that can detect when anything is placed on it. When this happens, a voice pipes up and alerts the world.

Now, of course, we would need to be able to tune the utterances for the household.

"If you you wash that up now, you'll feel better."

"Sorry to trouble you, but you've accidentally left a cup next to the sink, I wonder if you could wash it up?"

"FFS, another cup, don't just leave it there, you know the right thing to do!"

"I told you 5 minutes ago, now get your arse in gear."

"I'm calling your mother, you know I will..."

..and so on...

And yes, the equipment will have to be reassuringly secure, expensive and robust so no one is tempted to break it or hack into it.

Shirley the basic problem is the absence of the aforementioned //someone else// ?

For a small additional charge the system will lock the fridge until the dishes are done.

Not to be confused with the Moaning Workshop

Read as "Moaning Workshop", which in my world, would be far more useful.

// Couldn't the worktop just add itself to the chore list? //

Yes. I foresee some "near product services" to tailor and configure the customer's "worktop solution" to meet their specific business requirements.

       That'll be 200 guineas.

There are these devices called dishwashers ... use item, place straight in dishwasher. Sorted.

yes yes but what about ... dishwasher done ... can't be bothered to put things away
DenholmRicshaw, Dec 19 2016

       Oh, come on ...

You need two identical dishwashers. As you use the clean stuff out of the full one, put the dirty stuff in the empty one.

No wonder the cetaceans think you're so funny ...

I already feel like I live to serve my house as it is...

The buggers still put things on either of the dishwashers.

The solution is a sloping top - linky - 1 minute 10 in

.45 ACP soft nose would be your friend on that one.

Fortunately, there'll be an entire ecosystem where selected and trusted partners will be able to deliver their value added services to end users.

You've been standing too close to the oiks from marketing again ... go and wash off the contamination.
