Personally I get irritated when I click a link on
halfbakery and go into some tangent, and
then have to click the back button a dozen
times. I know that with merely a few lines of
the HTML already used in the links, a new
window would open.

Not a few lines of HTML. One phrase in the anchor tag "target=_new" will do it. I bet you could do that by default in userContent.css (for Firefox). |

hands of the user (i.e. by clicking or right-
clicking and choosing "Open in new

Perhaps you should try the superdragandgo extension for Firefox. It will let you open a page in the current tab, or open a new tab in the foreground or background, all using just the left mouse button. |

or just buy a $5 mouse w/ 3 buttons. alternatively, if you're on a laptop, you can change the system preferences to make a tap w/ 2 fingers on the trackpad a right click. |

a third option, the new version of safari has a feature called snapback where if you click the little orange arrow in the URL bar, it takes you back to the first page before you started wildly clicking links. |
