Remotes For All
Each family member gets a remote

An excellent conversation starter. In tandem with resentment and/or hostility and lack of communication between family members while a TV is on a program that a control freak has chosen while maintaining control of the single remote control. Each family member could have a remote for the same device allowing for each member to see bits and pieces of shows without having to beg, borrow or steal the single remote from the control freak. Hours of fun.

And, assuming someone WANTED to do this for some reason, what is preventing them from going and buying another X universal remotes?

The most fun I've had with an extra remote was while I was pretending to read, with the extra remote hidden beside me. Every time my wife changed channel I would change it back. Of course laughter gave it away in the end.

But seriously thumbwax, if you gave everyone a remote the amount of TV watched would be zero.

...and that would certainly *not* be a Bad Thing(tm) at all, Alcin.

       My point exactly.

Every remote I've ever seen has an 'off' button of some sort...and you only need one.
