Serving dish with built in scale

To prevent (or encourage?) the sin of gluttony

A serving dish which weighs the portion of food set upon it. It may display precise weights by means of a digital display, or more subtly and approximately by a color changing strip along the edge.

Inspired by this extract from Screwtape Letter XVII:

"In a crowded restaurant she gives a little scream at the plate which some overworked waitress has set before her and says, “Oh, that’s far, far too much! Take it away and bring me about a quarter of it”. If challenged, she would say she was doing this to avoid waste; in reality she does it because the particular shade of delicacy to which we have enslaved her is offended by the sight of more food than she happens to want."

Portion Control Plates https://www.amazon....tion+control+plates
Does no good to make the portion only cover a quarter of the plate if it's piled a foot high. [a1, Jan 15 2024]

"Portion Control" plates are WKTE, having dividers and sometimes other markers. But they only let you know roughly by volume what is in them.

Where on this plate does the 18oz rib eye go? Next to the 7oz of seasoned curly fries? By the 5oz of slaw? Is there room for the chocolate cake? The IPA? The Pickapeppa? Oops. Scale reads “E.”

The plate should have a built in CT scanner so that the point density of each food item can be calculated and displayed; also the presence of bones, lead shot, bits of grit, etc. can be flagged up.

Can it call me fatty if I load up too much?

Yes, we have both supportive and humiliating versions to suit all preferences.

One "snarky butler", please. With a "snide 15 year old girl" dessert plate. "Oh my gosh, are you seriously going to do that? That's just gross. Well I know why Mom left you now"

Pile it up to the slip angle. The quantity of nosh is thereby correlated to the diameter of the plate.
