windswept umbrella in formation when it is open hold a button on the handle and the umbrella becomes your personal dark cloud raining on you wherever you go and whenever you choose

how it works a water resivoir that you can fill up is hidden on in the material of the thing. so each triangle is a liquid bladder. also thought about some way to condense water from the atmosphere automatically but not sure how to make that work

please excuse no caps and run on sentences first post from my weak phone

This I don't get. So, I'm in a down. I'm not particularly interested in telling everyone that - what's the point? Nor do I want to be wet.

Giving your environment a little bit of advance warning about your mood may prevent injury, and might get you some help or at least empathy and a laugh. I'm unlikely to use this, but I think I get the sentiment.

Could come with a fan and some small motorized actuators that simulate the umbrella's flipping over from a gust of wind.

[+] could be a statue holding an umbrella over a portion of the sidewalk: on rainy days it's a dry spot, on hot days a cooling mist drops from the inside. Good idea with or without depression.

My environment needs no warning - depressives are miserable buggers but not aggressive (in fact, they are generally not readily identified by any outward act). And I might want empathy if my cat has died, but not if I'm in a trough; all I want is a hole to hide in where I don't have to move.

But anyway, this was meant as a fun idea and I'm just being a curmudgeonly sod.

in order to cheer yourself up, lend the umbrella to somebody.

I have seen a performing artist use a similar device; an ordinary umbrella, with its shaft a tube, the handle end attached to a pressurised water tank carried on their person, and the spike end mounted with a watering can rose or spray nozzle. As they perambulated the venue, they were surrounded by fine drizzle, but it was above their umbrella i.e. they kept dry. It was astonishingly effective.
