pedestrians help to grit the roads and pavements by releasing grit / salt as they go about their business.

the question has always been - how did the soldiers release the cords in their pockets if they were marching and swinging their arms - well this needn't concern us here; we have better things to worry about.

How much grit can be carried in each trouser leg ?

How much grit needs to be dispensed per footstep for reliable traction?

How do you stop your trousers falling down ?

How far can you travel before (a) you run out of grit and fall over, (b) are arrested for indecent exposure, or (c) (probably the worst outcome) suffer frostbite in sensitive parts ? Do you not realise that permanent harm can befall a young man in such circumstances ?

Excellent - to encourage people, loudspeakers in public places will softly play the music from The Great Escape.

Oh yikes. Surely this is the Big Society taken too far. Voluntary collectivisation of municipal activities, various concerneds of Tunbridge Wells forming salt-procurement JVs, hoppers fitted to Chelsea tractors ensuring a skite-free school runs and precious little else and elsewhere, rink like surfaces on NOPQ5 streets, cats and dogs living together, mass hysteria.

I worry about unnecessary chaffing. And you should too. OUCH!
blissmiss, Dec 20 2010

there should be no chafing as the grit is contained in bags.
