More of a question than an idea because I’m not seeing that this has been done, though it’s probably been proposed.

Not an urn, glass orb or even concrete sculpture, this would look like a Roman stone statue that would actually be the person in stone that was liquified and molded.

I’m chilling at the beach, not gonna spend too much time on this.

The use of cremation ashes in concrete memorial https://patents.goo...atent/GB2479909A/en
The use of human or pet cremation ashes (cremains) in ornamental statuary and bricks is disclosed which comprises forming a concrete body from a concrete mix of 40% aggregate, 20% cremains, 20% sharp sand, 20% cement and water. Other additives may be used in the concrete mix, such as plasticizer, air entrainer, accelerator, fly ash, glass fibres. [a1, Apr 18 2024]

SLAG - by any other name - could look as neat! https://albionfirea...hat-is-slag-anyway/
Might work, some of the examples look pretty cool [a1, Apr 18 2024]

See linked patent. But why you be thinking about corpses while chilling at the beach?

Hah, my "introspective memorial block" (link in category list above right) predates that patent by over a year.
Loris, Apr 18 2024

Hey doc, how about we make some cremain-concrete statues of people lying down, then bury them in graveyards? That'll really confuse archaeologists in the distant future.
Loris, Apr 18 2024

Actually specified no concrete but we go with stone I’m in.
doctorremulac3, Apr 18 2024

And that reminds me of my favorite idea. (Link)

I'd guess - even without looking for prior art - that the basic idea goes back even further. The patent was just the top of google search results.

//I'd guess - even without looking for prior art - that the basic idea goes back even further.//

       You'd think so, wouldn't you?
I assume I did a search at the time, though, and didn't find anything matching my idea precisely. Not conclusive, of course, but if people are applying for patents on cremain bricks so recently, it's presumably not widely known to exist, at the very least.

//Actually specified no concrete but we go with stone I’m in//

Oh, I see - I misunderstood that. You want to melt rock and then add the cremains.
It's harder work, but I think it's doable.

// Actually specified no concrete but we go with stone //

That may come down to very precise definition. Many (most?) manmade "stone" products are really concrete. Do you have a recipe for one that isn't?
a1, Apr 18 2024

There's some refining process which involves melting rock - a metal ore, I think, to get the metal out. They pour the 'lava' out later - it's basically a waste product but you can grind it up to make... an abrasive or something. Anyway, it's really tough rock.
So you could take your cremains there, add them to a small batch of lava and pour into a suitable mould. Much more efficient.
Loris, Apr 18 2024

Like ferrous slag, or something from other metal refining?
a1, Apr 18 2024

I don't think it was from iron ore. Possibly nickel.

But yes, if you could get a nice glassy slag that could work quite well.

       1- Whoa!

2- Slag sounds like a nasty insult.

       "Oh, so-and-so? Total slag."

(re link) Yea, thought slag was too good an insult to not be out there already.
