Pants Cinch

An alternative to wearing a belt.

Sometimes when wearing pants that are a size or two too large in the waist, a belt which is a necessary accompaniment, folds over the material usually near the fly, when tightened.

This same effect can be had without the belt, but instead with a Pant Cinch. This simple device is designed to look like a belt buckle, but simply clips over the folded material reducing the overall circumference of the pants.

This is a rather heavy-duty clip that can withstand the innumerable forces that threaten to pull down one's pants throughout the day.

       So tacky it's cool?

[+] bun for wishing I had this problem!!
xandram, Jan 10 2011

Sounds like you got a lot of forces trying to pull your pants down. Maybe you should work on eliminating *them* first. Me thinks.

You could use the same idea for trousers, as well!

       No gravity, no plumbers crack.
Simples.

You could use a safety pin, but chances are it would look like a safety pin.

Ccan I point out that a jumbo tie-wrap, looped through two adjacent belt-loops and pulled tight, performs this function admirably?

Incidentally, initial testing has shown that the adjacent belt- loops should not be those on either side of the zip.

No, but I have an enviable collection of belt-loops.

       Enviable by who, exactly ?

By the gullible fool to whom I sold all my trousers, mainly.

I'm still renting the pockets on these ones.

Many red-blooded guys would kill for innumerable forces trying to pull their pants down.

[+] I can see the product being marketed towards parents of children with clothes that they'll "grow into" and the like: clips shaped like daisies, rocketships or a faux-cellphone or something.

Maybe grown-ups could be conned into buying a pair for themselves in case their waistline decides to recede (which doesn't happen but that's hardly the marketing department's fault).

       // a jumbo tie-wrap//

I think the problem here was brought up earlier

//The appearance of a beltless buckle would be rather tacky, I would think.//

Buuuut... I think if it were marketed right, it'd still work.

       How about subdermally implanted pop-fasteners?
