I'm tired of socks being sold just two at a time. The Sock Block is 200 identical men's socks pressed into a 24-by-24 inch cube. Since socks are pliant and retain their shape when pressed, the block will stay cubic after it is unwrapped.
Tired of wearing holey socks every morning? Throw them all
out now, and buy a Sock Block today.
The Sock Block is both decorative and functional. Leave it on top of your dresser, or on your bedroom floor, and every morning, simply peel two socks off the cube.
Since all the socks are identical, no sorting is necessary. Bulk Socks video

There's another idea before for something similar. If i remember correctly. But I've always like the notion of disposable clothes anyway. [+] |
|
| |
[+] You just cant find bulk socks in stores. |
|
| |
I can't think of anything to add, it is clearly brilliant! |
|
| |
what dent said... I just hope you don't have to match a colour to each side of the bl**dy cube. |
|
| |
Maybe you can't find bulk socks, but you can find packs of 24 pairs at Wal-Mart and Target. |
|
| |
It's bad enough wearing identical socks
every day, but identical socks on your left
and right feet?? Please, provide a block in
which all 200 socks are guaranteed to be
different. |
|
| |
Nice. Why make them identical? A mixture of say, 3 colours should be manageable. Red, white and blue could be ok. |

Feeling a swell of patriotism, are we? |

Sorry this idea is baked. If you look online you can find any number of places to buy socks in bulk. |
|
| |
Uhh...There's a pretty big difference between *Buying socks in bulk* and *Buying socks in bulk, compressed into a cube from which you peel them when needed*. |
|
| |
True... that is a unique and highly desireable feature. What can I say, you've convinced me! Enjoy your bunnage + |
|
| |
[21 Quest], who doesn't wear identical socks on their left and right feet? |
|
| |
What? When did I say anything about not wearing identical socks? All I've said you can buy socks in bulk, you can buy them in packs of 24 pairs at Wal-Mart and Target, and agreed that the peel-off cube is a unique and desireable feature of this idea. |
|
| |
200 is a lot of socks. Surely this thing will cost a fortune. |
|
| |
//who doesn't wear identical socks on
their left and right feet?// Maxwell
Buchanan never, ever wears identical
socks. I can't fathom why anyone would,
to be honest. Madness. |
|
| |
Not that much... 100 pairs, and when you consider that you can get socks in a 12 pair pack for 10 bucks... Ok, yeah, it'll cost you. Maybe invent a sock compactor that you put your socks into to re-compress them back into a cube, because you can get a lot more than one use out of a pair of socks. |
|
| |
Does it have to be a cube? Could it be a bust? |
|
| |
200 buns wrapped neatly in the shape of a croissant. + |
|
| |
I think 200 is more socks (of the same size) than anyone would require in a lifetime. I guess the partially-expended cube could be handed down through the generations, but the concept flies in the face of JIT principles. |
|
| |
Trust me [texticle], it isn't. Well, leastways, quality of the socks is a key factor. |
|
| |
hmm... why not make them out of rubbers and makem multipurpose ;) block of cock socks! |
