a small incendiary device in disguise of a peanut put in first so the birds peck at it last, which lets off a bang and a plume of red smoke to alert you and a tiny fold up flag which then unfolds so you can see it at a distance( in case you were out)..so you will know that the feeder is empty and you
can then go down the garden ready armed with fresh peanuts (not forgeting to replace the special one) you will save hours over a year.

I think the bang and flash would discourage any birds from using your feeder ever again. And possibly harm the bird if it ingests the small incendiary device. Get ready for a nasty fine from the EPA (or whatever the English equivalent is). |

And xenzag, too, I think. I just figured I'd be the first to point it out. |
|

my sparrows can clean out the feeder in an hour. I do feel guilty when I neglect them though. I'd like this better, if the last bird to eat was not blown to bits though. |
|
| |
a better idea (if you really like birds - and if you're feeding them, I imagine you do) would be to have the last nibble go through a thread that's attached to the string that's holding it to the tree and so it falls to the ground. an alarm on the ground could then send a silent message to perhaps your mobile or your email!? |

Why don't you get sparrows with peanut allergies? |
|
| |
you do but you just don't see them. they're under the hedge gasping for breath |
|
| |
No need to blow up the last sparrow !
but rest of it's ok. Last peanut could
just be a switch, with no bang... Flag
could have a short message on it like:
HUNGRY!!! + |

What might eventually happen, given evolution (if it exists) is that the birds learn to avoid the last nut, leaving it for the squirrels. |
|
| |
how about a loud screech to scare the birds from the immediate area before exploding. Oh yeah, why even disguise it as food? thats kinda mean. |
|
| |
If they evolved into boxes they could be
called Squarrels. |
|
| |
"don't squirrels evolve?" |
|
| |
tempted to post video of Droll Yankee squirrel-proof bird feeder...
or the squirrel stealing babe ruth candy bars from the dispenser... |
|
| |
Granny, please move this to a better category. |
|
| |
Squirrels don't evolve. They were
imported. |
|
| |
I don't believe in evolution. |
|
| |
feed the sparrows, who cares what gender YOU are. |
|

voting plus eventually for the feeding idea anyway. |
|
| |
Mr Tindale having a Devo moment I see.
I like the idea as written. |
