Currently you receive some form of benefit if you're un-employed,
I'd like to see that extended to those who are un-attached.
not jobseekers allowance... Birdseekers allowance (and manseekers allowance)
That way, single people would be given a healthy sum each week to spend on flowers, dinner
dates and plastic surgery.
Obviously those in a stable relationship would have to pay some sort of tax but hey, can you put a price on happiness?! In fact, it could be like income tax, everytime you kiss or say "I love you" you'd have to pay into the pot. obviously anniversaries would have extra penalties attached, and wedding tax would be inevitable....
Ultimately everyone would end up in a happy relationship, productivity would soar, the country's GDP would rocket and world peace would follow..... brilliant right?
