In users, a neural implant is hardwired to the brain, and during periods of waiting or idleness, plays all your favorite elevator tunes.
Idle for passing the time by listening to elevator music while waiting in line, waiting for the bus, sitting on the toilet or yes, even standing in the elevator.

This sort of thing is mentioned in Neil Stephenson's "The Diamond Age" - the user uploads their favourite music and it's played back by direct stimulation of the bones in the head or something - I forget the details. |
