A large auditorium.

36 wind chime musicians equipped with foot pedal operated desk fans.

The stage is composed of hanging glass, metal, wood, ceramic, wind chimes hung loosely together so that they tinkle pleasingly when blown by the desk fans.

Ok, it's been nearly two years.

       "I hear wind chimes"

and one giant set of chimes with a 8ft turbofan behind it, for the crescendo?

This is nice [+]. Please check out the Glacier Concerto as well. It was also a pre-Halfbakery-crash idea [see link].

Having composed music for a row of beer bottles drank to differing levels, I don't see why we couldn't do this.

       And what [skinflaps] said.

Took a look at the Glacier concerto idea, and it kind of lacks portability. Suggest icecubes and a very small microphone.

That would be kind of handy in a bar, "ahh, that's just the drink talking" etc.
