Serves two functions. In the event of accident on water, inflates to protect the user (occupant?).

Second function is to permit work avoidance, by cunningly inflating it and putting it on an office chair the wearer (tenant?) can sneak out and go do something less tedious.

possibly poupée gonflable if looked through at using the wrong end of a telescope..but definitely no connection to a "cathéter flottant à extrémité gonflable" except possibly for a dinosaur...

       This is an excellent idea.

May I suggest that it be equipped with fans, enabling it to become a hoverburka?

Hmm, not sure about that, I'd feel such a burk(a)....

If you were going to leave it somewhere and sneak out unobtrusively, you would have to wear something underneath.

[+] The inflatable burka would look great with the inflatable Pantoons. [link] Or they could form a his-and-hers ensemble. (The baby could have a hoversuit.)
