Grind genes and pour data over them

"There is of course the usual personal biometric information we need to tie your samples to yourselves." Sydney sat in the ID chair while a camera scanned her irises and facial structure. When she was done, Ashwin took a seat as well. "Now, take these swabs and swabs the inside of your cheeks, please."

The technician bot took both swabs and placed them into its genetic sequencer's input trays, grotesquely located roughly where a humanoid robot's nostrils would be. Breaking down their genes into a million bits, the sequencer program then anonymously compared them to an a.i.-assisted database of hundreds of millions of other couples looking for common trends, anomalies, disease markers, recessive bits, and compared them with the results from each of the partners. It also uploaded their genetics against the NORD database. In a few minutes, the sequencer-AI-bot was ready to announce its findings.

"First, the regional biometrics. You both have markers as descendants from Genghis Khan, which is not surprising. Sydney, you have roots in Area 583, or as it was called before the Glorious Revolution, Krakow. Ashwin, your ancestry lies underneath the waves, the sunken city of Jakarta."

"Sydney, you have the capacity of above average intelligence, but we are prescribing a regimen of Triqualsamidub-AB to dampen the side effects associated with your genetic makeup."

"Ashwin, you could do better. Sydney has a tendency for fragile bone density, PCOS, and bruising. And Sydney, Ashwin shows markers associated with OCD and a short temper."

"You both have recessive traits for EDN3 Waardenburg Syndrome with Hirschsprung disease type 4A, which is likely to rise in your offspring. You also have a 31% likelihood of producing children with trisomy-21, which the State cannot subsidize nor condone. You should not interbreed. I am now uploading my findings to the State Reproduction and Health Commission..."

Swiftly pulling out a hammer he had hidden in his cargo shorts pocket (they were finally back in style in 2076), Ashwin smashed the fragile antennae of the technician bot, grabbed Sydney's hand, and both ran out of the room. "I figure we have about 3 minutes before the Reproduction Health Inspector discovers this mess. They'll never let us be together if we stay."

"Can we break for the Outerlands?"

"It's worth a try."

So the general idea here was to explore the gray ethical areas that would be basically possible with a large database and a.i. system that could look for genetic trends and provide recommendations, set against a dystopian backdrop for some fun.
