Cordless Phone Pad & Pen

"Hang on, what was that number again?"

Cordless phones are great for those who wander and talk, but lousy for message taking. I want a simple little clip-in pen and a notepad attached to the handset itself, (not the base). Perhaps with a nice little tether to keep it from walking away.

Not exactly what you want, but close. [Worldgineer, Oct 04 2004, last modified Oct 21 2004]

or a little inbuilt voice recorder?

Marker-on-arm ... you're kind of in trouble if you take a LOT of notes, but it would work just the same

Or maybe a voice recorder type option on the handset that wirelessly transmits the memo to a computer which in turn transcribes it. The result would be printed, faxed or e-mailed according to configured preferences.

With one cordless phone I had many years ago I had the ability to turn on the answering machine from the handset - this was wonderful for taking audio notes.

Simply tell your friend you need to write that number down -- then use the phone keypad to do it!

BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP! BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP! What was the rest of that number again? Hello? Hello?

This sort of thing is always fine until the pen runs out of ink, or the pad runs out of paper, then you can never get replacements. Something built in to the phone, like a voice memo or etch-a-sketch, is definately the better way to go. Either that, or carry a washable felt pen and write on the doors and walls.

Sheesh. Were none of you in the Brownies? Don't you know you should always carry a notepad and minature pencil in your attractive brown belt bag? Not to mention 10p (probably 1pound 50 nowadays) to call your mum.
