You've been nurturing this idea for the better part of a decade, perhaps it is a mouse teleportation device that safely deposits your little furry friend outside the house, or perhaps it is a revolutionary perpetual motion device powered by magnets.

You do a few searches, and you find what appears to be a wonderful site full of interesting inventions, you quickly roll up your sleeves and post an idea or a dozen, only to find scorn and ridicule! They attack your grammar and spelling, cite all kinds of irrelevant scientific "facts", and worst of all, claim that some of your best work has already been done by others! And wtf with the custard fixation?

A little more research will show you that status counts. Veterans inventions are given a little slack, and people judge you based on the totality of your ideas -- which right now are looking like a fish cemetery.

Insufferable. Enter Phishing Expeditions.

We will create a complete site full of "your ideas" that will look and feel like the halfbakery, and have you as the author of many existing popular ideas, and throw in a few of your new ones into the mix. You can then pepper such links into your HB ideas and slowly but surely assume the persona of an elder statesman -- and watch the croissants pour in.

What happened to the evil: category?

This idea sucks. You don't belong here, noob. [+] for compassion and fair-mindedness.
Alterother, Oct 23 2011

Why create a new "fake" site? Better if one is paying for work, that the Phishers simply infiltrate here, creating sockpuppet accounts and bribing respected contributors.
pocmloc, Oct 23 2011

True. We all earned what cred we have, be it little or much. I just like the sympathy for newcomers.
Alterother, Oct 23 2011

[AO] YOU are calling [theircompetitor] a noob??

//bribing respected contributors// You mean you haven't got your check yet?

       Are you calling me respected?
pocmloc, Oct 23 2011

I was being very, very facetious in my first anno. To paraphrase the Emergency Broadcast System, this was a joke; this was only a joke.

Boo! Boo! Take your annotation and get the f*** out of here!
MikeD, Oct 24 2011

That might have been a bit harsh.
MikeD, Oct 24 2011

No, no, I thought it was hilarious. Don't second-guess yourself, man.
Alterother, Oct 24 2011

I think you are being a bit harsh on this idea, UB.
neelandan, Oct 24 2011

       UB?
Alterother, Oct 24 2011

       //UB?//

neelandan is trying to mask the real date that Unabubba deleted his account, which corrupted lots of conversations in other people's ideas.

       Quite why, don't ask me.

And now it becomes clear where UB got his money...
RayfordSteele, Oct 24 2011

I thought that was the reference, I just didn't get the joke. Thanks for clarifying it as much as you could.
