By day, it is a lowly vacuum, its shell a cheery red, sucking up dirt and unwanted filth. By night, in the darkness that is, it is the Roomba of Doom, a cold-hearted black, low-slung, sleek machine of doom, sucking up dirt and zapping unwanted filth (sp: intruders).
Because Roombas wander around the
house when vacuuming, have them store the layout of permanent objects in a matrix data set, and add one of those battery-powered shock-prod defense tasers. Then, at night, have it seek out movement found via IR cameras, placed around the house, that track anybody who breaks in.
