Half a croissant, on a plate, with a sign in front of it saying '50c'

Expensive, difficult, slightly dangerous, not particularly effective... I'm on a roll.

Mounted right out at the front of the bonnet is a mirror at roughly a 45 degree angle. This will give you a better view of oncoming traffic when coming out of a side street or driveway when parked cars, bushes, garbage bins, etc obscure the view from the driver's seat.

Optionally, this could pop up from a retracted postion, and have a control in the dash for the exact angle.

How about a videocamera on the hood and LCD screen on the dash?

It's called a "crossover mirror", and is very baked. Mandatory equipment on school buses most places that I know of.

How about a giant motorized mirror that I can use to reflect sunlight back into tailgaters' eyes?

[UB] Perhaps a giant HeNe laser as the add-on pack.

I had the same idea which I called sideview mirror, with the additional feature that it would fold down flat when the car was moving, and rise when the car was stopped with the motor running.
