Solid Lego consists of bricks which use ten times as much material as the conventional light weight plastic variety currently in existence. The new bricks are also much bigger, use recycled plastic, but work in exactly the same way as the current mostly hollow ones.

The reason to do this is to help by way of recycling to use up more of the world's millions of tons of discarded plastic. It won't make a big difference, but Lego is a global brand, and influencer, and others may follow.

A simple exchange scheme would see 'old for new'. Lego would market the new recycled plastic version as being a positive decision. In time, all 'old Lego' would be viewed as an 'unpc'.

Plastic injection molding does have physical limits for quality on thickness.

Different densities of brick would add a new dimension in Technic motion. 'Weebles' wobble but they don't fall down' also comes to mind.

Yep, carbon-14 dating is only useful after the subject is done exchanging carbon.
