Water sticks to glass pitchers and glass coffee pots allowing liquids to miss their intended targets. This problem can also occur with plastic and metal pitchers at shallower angles.

Annotation:

I think it would introduce an even greater proclivity for the liquid to adhere to the lip than a rough surface.

If that's the case, bristolz, wouldn't chewing tobacco & it's associated "juice" be even likelier to stick to a pitcher's lips?

Glass ewers have no lips. So, no.

I've seen a baseball pitcher named Glass, and I distinctly recall that he had lips. So, yes.

I've heard of pitchers with glass elbows, but not glass lips.

But getting back to the idea, if the problem also occurs with plastic pitchers, then teflon ain't gonna help on the glass ones.
