Would like furniture with an internal USB port replicator, high-powered. I could plug in a USB "clock" (i.e. Matrix-Orbital LCD Display), plug in a wireless USB phone/dock, a table lamp, LCD photo frame, Speaker, etc.

Is there a computer involved, or is this just to provide power?

Depends. If I could run USB over IP, then it's connected (preferably wireless). Or I could just put an IPAQ under the table to run the show.
