Voice Box Recorder

A small recording device which records what you say when you've drunk too much alcohol

Not so much a drink accessory as a drinkers accessory. The idea is to have a small recording device attached to something very near your throat and mouth (an earring or your collar) which starts recording what you're saying when you start getting too drunk and saying things which you won't remember the next morning. Then the next morning you download the contents of the VBR into a computer program which picks out unusual words and phrases and other chosen phrases which could be badly used in a drunken state. This enables the drinker to know what they've said the night before. Although this may cause embarrassment it still ensures that the person is more aware of what has taken place and so will be able to deal with the situation effectively.

Same idea, but aimed at discovering genius, not embarassment. [jutta, Oct 04 2004]

I hear you. I've lost count of the number of times I've forgotten everything and then the next day my mind then has the habit of dreaming up all sorts of hideously inappropriate things I might have said.

These days though I've matured a little, and I've come to realise that wiping things out of my mind is a bad thing, both physiologically and spiritually (what's the point of having fun if you can't remember it) and so now try to moderate my drinking, and you should too my girl.

       ps. "program"

       sp. "sp."

       it's a "PS", not a sp(elling)!

       Amusing though.

Damn, thought it was a typo. I'd ask you to add an extra dot but I've already had my fun.

Back to the idea... I think we did this a while back with a camera, but that seems to have disappeared. If you're going to work on audio only you may need a 'drunk slurring transcriber' which is capable of finding words that match what you might have been trying to say. Nevertheless, croissant.

[Blissmiss]Drinking is not a problem, it's part of life and comes in between lectures and bedtime.
Miss Weston Smith, Nov 12 2002

I thought lectures were bed time & if your v.cunning you can also fit drinking time in to lecture time. Its just a problem if you sleep walk, ergo your permenantly drunk!!!! By the way i think i'm going insane.

       You reckon?
Miss Weston Smith, Nov 12 2002

Hmm...Well i once read in a watering hole in geordieland that a drunken mans speech is a sober mans secret so you're f*#ked if you didn't want people to know what you were saying. I say best left forgotten! Alternatively go drink for drink with all those you go out with and then the chances are they'll have forgotten aswell. Sorry Miss WS no need!!
