Why isn't tuna sold with the mayo already mixed in. Mayo is sold un refrigerated, and so is tuna. Just put them together in the can and vacuum seal.

Might as well throw in the lemon juice and shallots as well while you're at it. (getting hungry)

Can't say that I've seen this on my local market shelves, but it appears you've been beaten to the punch, drewwid. See link.

The presumption being that everyone mixes tuna with mayonaise?
phoenix, Oct 31 2002

this idea should be called " A MAYO NUT" +1 even if mayo is the work of the devil.
po, Oct 31 2002

this good for those times when a supermarket is not close and who wants to have to mix it up or worry if the mayo is still good. This way it is always ready to go, even if it has been in the cabinet for 5 years. Mustard spin off is fine with me as well.

oh and that link is for industrial use. how about a single serving can?
drewwid, Oct 31 2002

Yeah, but it would have been in industrial quantities just prior to canning for singles. Whether bite size or plate size this isn't an original idea.

Now, if it were in some novel package form that, say, blended mayo and mustard together with tuna as it was being squeezed from a cat-shaped tube that featured a bread-penetrating vibrating spreader attachment and a continuous-display tuna-mix volume indicator with audio alert, well, then I'd say it might be original.

...as long as it doesn't involve nanobots or genetic engineering.

       Or prisms.

You know, I really hate all that opening stuff, spreading stuff, and wrapping stuff in cellophane too. Wouldn't it be cool if I could just walk into a store and buy my tuna ready mixed with mayonnaise and served in some sort of bread thingy.

       That'll be the day...
snarfyguy, Oct 31 2002

Baked....when in Australia you can walk into any IGA or 7,11(any supermarket) and buy individual tuna mix in a can ..chilli,lemongrass,curry,tomato,yes mayo...i think princess foods manufacture it. Great on toast with melted cheese, will try and find link.

This would work well in Breadwiches.

[BM] While in high school, I worked at a supermarket and the produce people would pull the nearly rotten produce from the shelves and stock the salad bar with it.
1kester, Oct 31 2002

Tuna here is sold in little one snack cans called tuna tempters, there is heaps of different flavors including mayo.

Quoting Micheal Keaton, talking to Henry Winkler in the movie Night Shift.

"I'm an idea man Chuck, oh wait I've got one", (talks into mini tape recorder), "Everybody eats tuna fish with mayonaise, so we should package the fish in mayonaise, no, no, wait, feed the fish mayonaise."

       classic.

Ok Ok i give. Someone has pretty much done it. Still haven't seen it in my local supermarket but perhaps i haven't looked hard enough. The tuna spread sounds tempting. I haven't seen night shift, does keaton come up with a velcro baby sleeper?? (see "infant velcro")
