Christmas opt-out website

The new list to check twice
  (+9, -1)(+9, -1)
(+9, -1)
  [vote for,
against]

Register at, say, www.ChristmasOptOut.com to quit Christmas.

"Oh, thank you for your thoughtful and expensive enough gift, but, didn't you check ChristmasOptOut.com? I've opted out of the Christmas gift exchange."

The website would have to be highly publicized and on all the morning programs. It could be a non-profit with proceeds to charity. An optional donation could be made at the site by the registrant, helping to justify their decision to opt out of Christmas.

"I've directed my small optional ChristmasOptOut.com donation to an organization that rescues abused captive reindeer!"

Legal obligation to check the list before cold-calling [pocmloc, Dec 27 2009]

Go to somewhere where all your neighbours are of a religious persuasion that forbids them to celebrate Christmas. Sorted.

Only if it is illegal to give gifts or greetings to people who have opted out. [link]

       Be better calling it bah-humbug.com.

What happens if someone sets up another site to ignore the opt-out of other opt-out sites?

"Oh, thank you for your thoughtful and expensive enough gift, but, didn't you check ChristmasOptOut.com? I've opted out of the Christmas gift exchange."

"Hey, you failed to check OptOutOfOptOuts.com therefore it is your fault you are upset!"
Aristotle, Dec 27 2009

Yes! [+], can't people just refrain from Christmas at least once? Can they refrain from puting fir trees in the middle of the cities? I don't see that happening anytime soon, but I would like they did.

... "Hey, you failed to check OptOutOfOptOuts.com therefore it is your fault you are upset!"

"Not at all, I am boycotting OptOutOfOptOuts.com since it is owned by a company with links to opressive festivals. You should have checked OptOutsBoycotts.com"
pocmloc, Dec 28 2009

hmmm re: pocmloc's link, there are confessed telemarketers who say they ignored the opt out list, at which moment (say dinner time EST) I became enraged and my head exploded, thereby wasting a perfectly prepared dinner. having said that, I say there would be violators.

So do you get the $10,000 fine for gifting someone on the "DO NOT GIFT" list?
