With both hacking and computer security growing by leaps and bounds, passwords have gained some strong requirements (minimum length, variable case, numerics, symbols, etc.)

I propose that on some systems, a "cursive password" could be implemented that would be as secure or better. Harkening back to the days of ink signatures, a cursive password would simply be one's choice of password written by means of mouse, touchpad, or other input device. One's "mousewriting" should be unique, and might be known as "cursor cursive," or, if it fails to work, "Cursed cursor cursive."

I don't see why this wouldn't work, at least with touchscreens, if the signature space were made large enough. [+]

       It would be nice. +

Some smartphones use a "swipe pattern" to unlock. I don't think it would be too daunting to have a touchscreen device, like a tablet, using a signature swipe. This is nearly baked, imho.

Hmm, smart phone accelerometers or that open source kinect wotsit might do the trick.

Alternatively making a sentence from a 10 x 10 grid of words that leads to 1 of 10 billion ubercomplex passwords...but that would be crazy, of course <he typed bitterly, retreating to secret lab, somewhere in the Carpathians>

At a bank and a pharmacy I go to, there are electronic signature pads which also display images. If it showed a picture of my face, I'd gladly apply a custom moustache, glasses, horns, and goatee which should make a pretty unique signal set.

Apply to the signature pad image or to your face? They probably should match.

My laptop has a fingerprint scanner which precludes having to type any passwords. Of course, if I ever lose my right index finger to amputation, I'll be in a world of hurt.

Yes I read somewhere that a photo fooled it quite well.
