Escher's Ketch

A two-masted toy sailboat, made of very lightweight materials.

A "Y"-shaped yoke, two ends of which attach to the boat on the port and starboard sides, respectively, the third end of which attaches to a very long roll of string.

Perhaps a slightly modified sail design, such that when the boat is sailing, and high winds come up, the boat will

fly.

like a kite.

Called *Escher's* Ketch because it embodies the principle diagrammed here. http://www.worldofe...ry/SkyAndWater.html
And of course because of Rod's Tiger's inspiration. [beauxeault, Oct 05 2004, last modified Oct 17 2004]

Very nice. Can it hang apparently upside down from the crests of waves ?

Does it have lifebelts in the form of Mobius strips ?

Is the baler in the form of a Klein bottle ?

Makes me think of parasailing wind surfers.

Y'awl should name all the boats and get it over with in one fell sloop now because, schooner or later, someone will do it.

I got an Escher's cheque once. You can imagine the implausible queues I had to wait in to get that bugger cashed...

In the end, it bounced. Across several novel dimensions.
