This is a "spatial synecdoche" that reflects the design of the filament of an incandescent lightbulb outside the bulb to the lamp shade so that the structure of the shade is shaped like the filament.

[admin: I fixed up both your links, but it would probably be a good idea to test them yourself. If you follow your second one, that idea also has links in it that no longer work--could you go and either delete them or find replacements? Thanks!]

Speaking of "work", how does the lamp work? Does the shade look like a normal lampshade but just have a pattern in it that is slightly denser and looks like a filament? Is the lampshade woven out of little wire pieces that look like filament? A filament and a lampshade are very different shapes, and I don't quite get how you plan to involve them.

Is there a difference between "the shade is shaped like the filament" and "the structure of the shade is shaped like the filament"?

I'd also like a lamp that looks like a regular decorative table lamp, but is lamp- and electricity-themed in content. E.g. with a decorative pattern of filaments on the lamp shade. It could be one in a line of narcissistic furniture.

I also had problems understanding what this would look like. A shade structured like a filament would not be a shade, would it?
