Flashing Beeping Croissant

Find other 'bakers.

This simple croissant-shaped device transmits and listens for radio signals on a given frequency. If it senses another such device, it begins flashing and beeping with a frequency proportional to it's distance. This will solve the problem of finding an ongoing 'bakery convention, as well as identify when you happen to be close to another 'baker by accident.

This product will be marketed to all kinds of small groups - all that has to change is the translucent plastic shell and the radio signal.

This could also be built into a cell phone, but that's not as much fun.

Oh, and there should probably be a mute switch, or the conventions will get annoying.

[po] Though I do like the idea, here's what would have happened in this instance: [half] and my knickers would have exploded in custard, and we would have found each other. [oxen]'s knickers would have exploded in custard when he arrived, but wouldn't know exactly who/where we were. [half] and I would not have noticed this newcomer, our pants already being full of custard.

Plus I would have had a very cold, slippery scooter ride home, assuming I survived the onslaught of hungry seagulls.

It should include an upper band detection mode so we can sweep meeting locations for bugs and other surveillance equipment.

There was a meme that percolated through the bakery for a while, inspired by a Japanese device called the "Lovegety", that was similar to this. See links.
