Hit Melody
A cross between a player piano, a xylophone and the carnival game where one pounds the figures that randomly pop up | |
This instrument looks like a xylophone with large bars that are raised and lowered. Hitting the correct bars when they are raised, with clubs plays a melody. One can choose the tune and speed, ahead of time or be presented with a random, anonymous selection. If electronically produced, the sound could
mimic other instruments such as drums.
This might be a popular toy (displaying hit percentage), but I would like to see one used in the percussion section of an orchestra.

Lionel Hampton
http://www.guardian...1711,784668,00.html A sophisticated, classy, and world renowned artist on the vibraphones and drums, not to be confused with chintzy variations on "Whack-a-Mole". (This particular link was selected not for its graphics, but solely for its credibility with UK readers and references to the many notable musicians that Hampton worked with and influenced.) No doubt, the Lionel Hampton Memorial Foundation will be glad to underwrite a portion of this product's development costs. Timely. |

This reminds me of the 'Simon' toy I used to have when I was a kid. [see link] |

[-alx] I bet you had "Mastermind" too. |
|
|
Actually, I never did. Tried playing it a few times with friends, but never had enough fun to want it myself... |

The Whump Whump Revolution. (to quote Troy McLure: "SPINOFF. Is there another word which brings more joy to the human soul?") |

-alx I had Mastermind (4 and 5-peg versions) and not Simon, for the same reasons. |

FarmerJohn: my son had a toy where pressing (or banging) various keys played a sound and popped up various Sesame Street characters. Which sounds like the exact opposite of what you're after. (See link: looks like my son narrowly avoided death or disfigurement; we had an earlier, safer iteration.) |

Just goes to show that any spring in Mexico is better than China. |
