By simply having tool boards have a compulsory extra silhuo...silhu...outline of each tool on them.
By simply having this one (slightly blurry) outline but no corresponding tool, with perhaps -
* 5 curves of unusual dimensions
* 4 springs
* some gears
* 2 or possibly 3 knurled knobs,
* 3 horse-shoe magnets,
* a USB ports
* and a head-strap
Will not the inventive mind be jogged into creativity? Also it will really annoy OCD sufferers.

I thought most folks know that if you start typing a word like
"silhouette" into Google's search field, it
automatically presents a list of ways that the start of the
word might be completed. All you need is an accurate
start, to find the complete spelling. |

The title confuses me, but if you mean would having a semirandom visual assemblage of things cause inventors to be more inventive i think that could be true. |

Sometimes trying to think of new ideas I do this thing I call the "magazine technique" Where you grab a magazine and then try to think of a new invention based on the contents of the page. You cannot turn the page until you think of a new idea, almost however inadequate. It can work pretty well, generating 10 ideas an hour. Perhaps two or three would be halfbakeable. |

If someone were trying the magazine technique who was new to inventing I suggest being able to go to a fresh page after 5 minutes rather than not (no matter what) to make it more enjoyable. |
