Kaleidoklock

Reflections on time and trinkets

Enhancing the usefulness of a fine timepiece with the beauty of an elegant kaleidoscope, the Kaleidoklock is sure to grace your mantel giving you hours, minutes and seconds of pleasure.

The base contains the clockwork, light source and the brightly colored pieces of glass that make possible the center pattern. The pieces are shifted every second to create a new, dazzling display. The clock face is composed of two, concentric discs for hours and minutes, to be read at the pointer. On the base, stand two mirrors at a 60-degree angle to reflect and replicate the clock and the lustrous colors.

The Kaleidoklock, as seen below, will ensure that you are on time or maybe a little late, still gazing into its magical design.

unravelling some beautiful things would take away the wonder.... lovely [farmer]

could you post "kaleidoclock" for a doorlock that opens on the key shuffling pieces of coloured glass in the barrel, somehow - please..
po, Nov 05 2002

waugs: The discs and glass are turned at different speeds counter-clockwise. The 60 degree, bottom-lit sector is mirrored in five refections above. The time is soon 8:09.

po: That sounds like a goody.

       Kroisant

       Gorgeorgeous. +

I love your illustration style, natural line with both blocks of solid and textured color, nice palettes; Kortzau color.

I feel like a proud parent... I claim 1% of the profits for springing the idea!
RayfordSteele, Nov 05 2002

[Rayford] you only get 50% of that 1% - I gave you the word when you were shuffling around in the netherworld, remember?
po, Nov 05 2002

He's done it again! It's a good job these ideas fill the heart with awe, or I'd be consumed with jealousy.
egbert, Nov 05 2002

Okay, 'my' 1%, if I get it, is to be divided as follows: 40% to myself, 30% to CrumbsDM for sparking the kaleidoscopic revolution, and 30% to po for helping me out in a time of mental crisis. Since bliss 'found' Farmer outside of my involvement, she should negotiate directly with him.

It'll all wind up in the pockets of the patent lawyers, anyway...

       "poofter?"

       You surpass yourself Farmer. +1

On the subject of the autoboner - I noticed [jutta] saying the other day that she has the power to tell who has voted what for what if she really wants to, so I say "oust the autoboner!".
sild, Nov 06 2002

I dislike what you say but I will defend your right to say it. / I dislike his autoboning but I defend his right to do it - springs to mind [sild]
po, Nov 06 2002

You're absolutley right [po] and I knew someone would say that, though hadn't expected such a good quote to demonstrate.

[jutta] - can you find out and give us an obscure clue...? Go on - you know you want to....
sild, Nov 06 2002

I've got the torches. Who was supposed to bring the pitch forks and rope?

I'm with [waugs] - people's voting should remain secret, otherwise we simply degenerate into acceptance of ideas through simple thuggery.

       <baker's jealousy>Dang. Now I'm gonna have to do a drawing...</bj>

I humbly add my croissant to the huge gleaming pile. Well deserved FJ, please don't stop. You add beauty to my day.

       all of the above

What would send this WAY over the top is if you could build it translucent and verysmall - say, 2" - with a strong light and focusing lens to project its image over an entire wall, say 6' or 8'. This way it could remind me enormously to stop posting harebrained ideas and go to sleep.

       Heres $50. Can I have one? (++++++)
energy guy, Jul 09 2004

[Herilane], that clock you linked to is awesome! The kalidoclock idea is wonderful too. I want both!
