Passive deck lighting

...or Eave-olution. Inspired by [flying toaster]'s Solar Lighting idea.

Solar tubes mounted through a roof let sunlight into a home, but mount them under your eaves and not enough light enters to do much good.
Unless... If the first section of tube were semi-cicular, then the tube end could be extended during daylight hours so that it comes out and up from under the eave. The light collected needs to enter into the homes existing light fixtures so that at night the tubes retract and now some of the light from inside your home illuminates downward from the underside of your eaves.
