As you approach your front door with your arms loaded with groceries you hit the button and your door opens. How hard can this be? We do it with the garage at every house. I want one of these.

I'm reasonably certain we did this one before, but it seems to be gone now or in a different category.

It is also baked, at least the lock part. My sister has one on the front door of her house. See link.
krelnik, Jul 23 2003

[krelnik] Your link doesn't open the door.
[Mr Burns] Those devices don't unlock the door and are indiscriminate as to whom they open for.

//As you approach your front door with your arms loaded with groceries you hit the button// Anyone else here think they would need to put down some of the shopping before they could get the remote control thing out?

[phoenix] But if you install the linked automatic deadbolt, and disable the knob latch on the door, you can merely push the door open with your foot.
krelnik, Jul 23 2003

8^) But you'd better remember to set the deadbolt once you're inside.
phoenix, Jul 23 2003

Indeed. But at least you wont forget to take your keys out of the lock....oh wait, thats a different idea.

Why hasn't anyone mentioned bluetooth? Certainly there's a no-need-to-reach-into-your-pocket solution there.

better than watching paint dry, half.

Growing up in San Francisco, our house had a lever to remotely open and close the door. Try as I might, I cannot find a link to this Victorian era technology.
